Get a scratching post to distract those little claws and train kitty to use the proper place to groom itself. A little catnip rubbed onto the surface of a scratching post helps with training because kitty will be drawn to the scent.

The best rule is: complement the colors in your room. Don't choose curtains that will conflict with your furniture or clash with the painted walls. If you are not sure, stick with neutral tones such as taupe or cream. Plain material is a safer choice in drapes than patterned cloth, unless the pattern is subtle.

Formal Drapery Styles:
  1. Draw the draperies to the stack-back position.
  2. Stand with the headings at eye level and arrange the pleats. The pleats are arranged forwards and the gaps (the fabric in between the pleats) folded evenly between each pleat.
  3. Take each pleat from the top and smooth it down the drapery as far as you can reach to form a fold. Follow these pleats through to waist height.
  4. Kneel on the floor and follow the folds down to the hem. Finger press them into place.
Informal Drapery Styles:

If you want your new draperies to fall into soft folds, or to look as though they have been there for a long time, try one of the following window dressing ideas. Either pull the curtains back and forth about a hundred times to unstiffen the fabric, or pick them up, pull them towards you and drop them down again , until they have settled in nicely.

  • Floor length draperies are usually allowed to clear the floor or carpet by about a half of an inch. The length can be from the top of the window or they can go all the way to the ceiling.
  • Breaking length will break on the floor, usually by 1” – 2”. This gives the same look as a man’s pant leg breaking on the top of his shoe.
  • “Puddle length” can be as small as 3” – 10” or as much as 20”. Puddling or pooling is fabric laying on the floor like a puddle on the ground.

Easy. Just navigate to the product you are interested in sampling and use the drop-down selection box to select "swatch". We offer free-shipping on all swatch orders.

Drapes and curtains, if not washable in cool water, should be professionally cleaned.

Our panels with our standard lining will provide complete privacy but will not block a large amount of light. If you need to darken your room, or do not like the look of light filtering through the silk, we offer black-out linings that are designed to block light. Some sacrifice will be made using this lining as your panels will hang in a less relaxed fashion. Black-out lining is required for any custom shades to guarantee their aesthetic quality.

Interlining is a soft flannel material that is placed between the silk and the lining materials. Silks by their nature are fine, thin materials and the addition of flannel interlining adds body, fullness and softness to the draperies.

We highly recommend it for a full, rich look. Interlining is optional and has an additional charge.

Silk is a natural fiber and can be damaged by direct sunlight. Silk is made of the same protein that our hair is made of and it bleaches and breaks down in sunlight. We recommend ordering all silk drapery panels with our standard lining and interlining. There is a possibility that the leading edges will fade. No guarantee is offered against any UV light effects on silk fabrics.
